Ac-Leu-Glu-Thr-Asp-AFC is a fluorogenic substrate for caspase 8. Caspase 8 is a cysteine protease involved in apoptosis induced by Fas and other stimuli. It is an attractive therapeutic target for a variety of degenerative disorders.
Activity is quantified by release of free fluorescent 7-amino-4-trifluoromethylcoumarin (AFC) which excites at 395-400 nm and emits at 495-505 nm.
